Consultancy Engagement with ActionAid Bangladesh: Girl Supporter Project
Empowering Child Leaders Through Rights-Based Training and Nationwide Capacity Building for Child Forum Leaders (2020–2023)
Between 2020 and 2023, I worked as a national-level training consultant with ActionAid Bangladesh under the Girl Supporter Project, a flagship initiative aimed at empowering children and promoting rights-based social transformation. My primary responsibility was to design and deliver structured training programs for Child Forum Leaders across various regions of the country. These programs focused on developing children’s capacity in leadership, advocacy, and civic engagement, with particular emphasis on key social issues such as climate change, child rights, the elimination of child labour, and the prevention of child marriage.
A notable aspect of my approach was the strategic integration of cultural movements and creative expression — including local theatre, songs, and storytelling — as tools for community mobilization and participatory awareness-building. This methodology proved highly effective in enabling children to articulate their concerns, engage with policy dialogue, and influence change at the grassroots level.
Throughout this engagement, I maintained close coordination with the central project team and field-level facilitators, ensuring that the training aligned with ActionAid’s child protection principles, participatory values, and long-term impact goals. This work stands as a testament to my enduring commitment to child-focused development, inclusive education, and transformative social advocacy.
As part of my consultancy engagement with ActionAid Bangladesh’s Girl Supporter Project from 2020 to 2023, I conducted a total of nine field-level training programs across diverse regions of the country. These programs were designed to build leadership capacity among Child Forum Leaders, empowering them to advocate for child rights, climate justice, and social protection. The training sessions, I was contracted for, were held in multiple locations, including Chittagong, Adarshagram (beside the Jadukata River) in Sunamganj, Ghorar Ghat in Dinajpur, two separate villages in Patuakhali, two batches in Rupganj, Narayanganj (in 2020 and 2023), and two distinct locations within Dhaka city. Each of these engagements played a critical role in fostering grassroots-level advocacy and nurturing young change-makers across Bangladesh.
It is my pleasure to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of Mr. Mujahidul Haque, who served as a Consultant for the Girl Supporter Project of ActionAid Bangladesh from 2020 to 2023.
